Rules for every volunteer

Working as one team

  • Arrive by the report time shown in your own guide and sign in with your lead.
  • Follow the rota and instructions from your role lead. Tell them before changing position or taking a break.
  • Make a proper handover before leaving a station, even for a short toilet, food or prayer break.
  • Stay calm, polite and consistent. Do not create exceptions yourself; refer unusual requests to the relevant lead.
  • Keep contestant details, phone numbers and vehicle registrations private. Do not photograph or share programme screens.

Safety and escalation

  • Missing child: tell reception immediately and give the name, category and last known location.
  • Medical concern: contact the first-aid point at reception. For an immediate emergency, call 999 and alert the Competition Lead.
  • Do not take a child to an isolated place or deal with a safeguarding concern alone. Keep them in a visible area and call the lead.
  • Accident, argument, blocked emergency access or serious disruption: stay calm and alert your lead straight away.
