Room Team
The Room Lead, OBS volunteer and Page Turner work as one unit. The room must remain calm, accurate and on time, with the contestant, displayed slide and Qur'aan page always aligned.

Room Lead
Maintains order, stability, timing and communication.
- Confirm the judges, OBS volunteer and Page Turner are present and ready before the room opens.
- Keep the room quiet, dignified and moving smoothly. Only the current and next contestants should be in the immediate ready area.
- Check that the contestant name, screen and Qur'aan page match before the judge begins.
- Coordinate the pace between judges, OBS and Page Turner; reduce unnecessary gaps without rushing recitation.
- Deal with late arrivals and no-shows according to the Competition Lead's instruction. Do not reorder contestants yourself.
- At breaks, confirm the room is secure and everyone knows the restart time.
- Ten minutes before A, B and C finish, receive the assigned receptionist and prevent contestants dispersing before checkout.
- Escalate delays, technical faults, behaviour concerns, safeguarding issues or scoring problems to the Competition Lead.
OBS Volunteer
Controls slides, break video, stream, sound and the room display.
Before the first contestant
- Open the correct Category OBS setup and confirm the correct boys' or girls' competition.
- Test the live stream, laptop power, internet connection, TV/projector, speakers and both microphones.
- Confirm the judges' microphone and contestant microphone are clear and at suitable volume.
- Load and test the break video before the room becomes busy.
During the session
- Change each slide at the appropriate moment—never early enough to reveal the next contestant's information.
- Keep the live name and question aligned with the contestant who is actually reading.
- Switch to the break video promptly for Dhuhr and the food break; return only when the Room Lead says the room is ready.
- Monitor the stream and the room TV/projector throughout, not only at the start.
- If anything freezes or mismatches, tell the Room Lead, pause the transition and correct it calmly.
Page Turner
Prepares every Qur'aan page so the next contestant is never delayed.
- Have two Qur'aans at the station and all contestants' question pages available before the session begins.
- Use one Qur'aan for the current contestant and prepare the next contestant's first page in the second Qur'aan while the current recitation continues.
- Follow the live contestant and question shown in the volunteer itinerary/programme; do not rely only on memory or a handwritten list.
- Double-check the contestant, question number and page before presenting the Qur'aan.
- Use page markers carefully without damaging pages or obstructing the text.
- Keep both Qur'aans respectfully positioned and the immediate area clear of drinks, cables and loose papers.
- If the displayed page and prepared page differ, stop and ask the Room Lead before changing anything.
Flow for every contestant
- Room Lead: confirms the correct contestant is ready and the judges are prepared.
- Page Turner: confirms the correct question page is open in the first Qur'aan.
- OBS: displays the correct contestant and question only when the room is ready.
- Room Lead: gives the judge the signal to begin.
- During recitation: OBS monitors the stream and display; Page Turner prepares the next page in the second Qur'aan.
- After judging: Room Lead confirms the judges have completed their process before moving to the next contestant.
- The team repeats the checks—name, screen, question and page—before every recitation.
